11×14, Oil on Linen, this painting is framed in a handmade walnut thin profile floating frame with a 2 inch depth
My husband and I have 6 boys and every year we pile them all up in our car and drive from Texas to find snow to snowboard. The early years of taking our family snowboarding and skiing were riddled with carrying young children and our own equipment, as well as finding creative ways to keep everyone warm, safe and happy. We utilized lots of snacks and hand warmers and we were often exhausted and worn out, wondering if it’s all worth it. But my kids are now growing up and my oldest 5 can all ski or snowboard on their own, so when we go, we have a LOT of fun chasing eachother down the mountain. When I look at this painting from a photo I took years ago, I’m so grateful to those parents for loading up all the kids and all the gear and teaching them to love the snow, even though it was so hard. This was painted from a photo of my husband carrying my son from our cabin at Sundance to the chairlift.
